What's Up in Music Class?

K Kids will wrap up the year working  on songs for their spring prayer service and will review reading and

performing rhythm patterns.  They've come a long way!

First graders will end the year review rhythm (quarter and eighth notes) and melodic patterns (sol and mi) and learning songs for our Service Learning Prayer Service and the last Mass.  They are very eager learners!

First graders will end the year review rhythm (quarter, eighth, and half notes) and melodic patterns (sol, la. mi, and do) and learning songs for our Service Learning Prayer Service and the last Mass.  They are very eager learners!

 3Third grade students will  end the year working on pentatonic scale patterns and performing ostinato patterns with "Great Big House in New Orleans." They've made great progress in singing a melody while performing an ostinato at the same time.  Impressive!!

 Fourth graders will continue building their recorder and music reading skills with "Old Ark" and "Nobody Knows."  Bonus songs will be distributed for those who want to continue playing  the recorder.  Click here for resources to help you with note names!

Fifth graders will end the year reviewing "Chopsticks" on the piano and learning to recognize intervals in music by sight and by sound.  Have a great summer!

Sixth graders will end the year with a unit on music from Latin America. They've covered a lot of territory this year!

Seventh graders will end the year studying 20th Century art music...so very "different" sounds!

8th graders will end the year performing their blues songs and getting ready for graduation.  Best of luck to each of you as you move on to high school!
